Outer (had posted in pages first)

For my favorite part of the French quarter I chose to go to the corner with a balcony.  I felt like this was a great place to just go outside and relax for a little bit while still getting a view of the city.  I went up there and hung out by myself for a little while, and I was entertained the whole time.  I will very much so miss the French Quarter, the nights I spent there were some of the most fun I have had since my last music festival (7 months).  Seeing live music is one of my favorite things to do, and the music scene there beat all of my expectations.  I fully plan on coming back; I liked this city more than any other I have been to.  I have a group chat with my friends that like to see live music, and we have already been talking about making a trip out there.  I would describe New Orleans as a nonstop party, full of love.  It is a city that knows how to entertain, and if you get bored there then that’s on you.  Everywhere you turn there is something that will capture your eye and draw you in.  They have good street performers, art, music, and food!  The thing I will most about it is being able to walk around with out a purpose and let something draw you in.  I wanted to travel around the U.S by backpack for a month or so in life, and I had never thought of going to New Orleans.  Now that I have a dog it makes doing that a harder experience, but I will definitely be back.

As a whole I found this trip to feel more like a vacation than class work.  Although we had to do things together as a class most of them were entertaining.  We got to see and hear about the history of the city, which there is more history to it than I ever thought.  It was fun to experience what life could be like outside of Central Illinois.  There are billions of different lives that exist, and it was fun to see what that way of life could be like.  I never thought I would like to live in a big city, but New Orleans changed that perspective for me.  Going to Chicago is nothing like New Orleans, I found New Orleans to be way more fun.  One thing I thought was an interesting thought was when I saw a group of kids out on the street playing the drums (one kid that couldn’t have been 5 yet) using an empty paint bucket.  It made me think about how this is how some kids have grown up, which is way different that how I was raised.  It got me to put myself in their shoes, and realize that how some of the musicians I was listening to were brought up.  I also liked going out with my friends there and experiencing the city, but I’m glad I was able to go out alone.  I feel like being out alone gave me the best experience, I got to see the city the way I wanted to.  I feel as if this trip gave me a better understanding of the different ways of life, but also gave me an appreciation for how I was raised.  Overall I had a really good time on the trip (besides the train ride), and I will make sure that visit there again sooner than later.
